Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a term for a collection of conditions which includes deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).
In most western societies, VTE is a bigger killer than breast cancer, HIV/AIDS, and traffic accidents combined, but if it is diagnosed early and treated appropriately, many deaths are preventable.
Clearview® Simplify D-dimer is a rapid, two-step test for the detection of D-dimer, which aids in the diagnosis of DVT and PE. The test works with capillary whole blood, venous whole blood, or plasma samples, making it ideal for point of care use; e.g., in the ER or in clinics. When used in conjunction with a clinical scoring protocol, it can be used as a rule-out test, thus saving money and offering better utilisation of valuable resources.
The test utilises a highly specific monoclonal antibody (3B6/22) for D-dimer, which minimizes the false positive results. The test also has in-built controls that ensure its accuracy and reliability.
