BinaxNOW^® tests are easy-to-use and easy-to-interpret rapid immunochromatographic tests (ICT) designed to identify the causative pathogens of infectious diseases. The tests detect bacteria and viruses causing upper and lower respiratory tract infections, including Legionnaires' disease, pneumonia, RSV and influenza, as well as pathogens causing filariasis and malaria.

The rapid and accurate test results provide the foundation for pathogen-specific diagnosis, encouraging optimal patient management and infection control practices. By rapidly identifying causative organisms, BinaxNOW^® diagnostic tests can help prevent empiric use of broad-spectrum antibiotics, which encourages antibiotic resistance, and help ensure use of targeted therapy.

The BinaxNOW^® range of respiratory tests can help identify S. pneumoniae, Legionella or other bacteria as the causative agent. The malaria and filariasis tests are specific to Plasmodium falciparum, P. vivax, P. ovale, as well as P. malariae, and to the parasites Wuchereria bancrofti respectively.
